Revolutionary Hatha Yoga
Revolutionary: Doing something radically different for complete change.
Mondays 5:45pm (75 min) Starts 15th January finishes 25th March (except 19/2 & 11/3) 9 sessions / $220 Beginner friendly, open to new and existing students
Revolutionary: Doing something radically different for complete change This is a yoga class that is wholesome, joyous and intentional; expect to leave feeling refresh, rejuvenated and connect.
Each week we’ll explore a new theme of what yoga is and why we take the practices that we do based around the Eastern philosophies of Samsara. During these classes I’ll share the best of what I’ve learn from practicing and studying yoga and philosophy for the past 20+ years. I’ve spent time in India studying Sanskrit and completed a philosophy degree there; I’ve learnt from teachers in Bali, Thailand and Central America, and want to bring all this together in these classes with my own style.
During these session I want to draw on my unique blend of experiences across lineages, share a good does of Yoga philosophy to help you better understand the Yoga universe and our place in it, explore more of the Sanskrit language, and weave all this into an exploration of the concept of Samsara - the cycles of life - to help give us purpose and direction. This practice will be seasonal, with a flow between our active yang and restorative yin to find balance and equilibrium. So you can expect a good blend of asana (shapes and movements), pranayama (breath practices) meditations, mantras and chanting, mudra and a range of other yogic practices supported by Satsang/teachings that draw us closer into connection and harmony. purpose and intentions.
Suitable for most bodies and abilities. Movements will be quite accessible with plenty of variations given; sometime we move, and sometimes we rest, but there will always be choice, so this class will suit all fitness and flexibility levels and ages.
Take this class if you want to step onto the mat each week and connect with your practice. Great for people brand new to yoga wanting to learn about the philosophy and why we do what we do at yoga. But it will also hold something for people that have been practising for a long time and want to refresh and remember.

A new Years Yoga Revolution
This 4 part series is all about creating change and allowing for growth to be lead from the momentum and wisdom of your body. Expect to set clear intention and receive teachings on how to let your body show you the way.
To create energy and warmth for change, expect movements to be bigger, stronger, creative and flowing.
And the extra 15 minute has been added so that we have time to then slow down for extended meditation and reflections.
The purpose is to discover your Sankalpa - your vow to your highest truth and self - so that you can start the new year with movement towards where and who you need to be.
Suitable for people ready to be a bit active; or navigate variations with intention to suit your bodies needs. My feeling is you can jump in if your new to yoga and see what this has to offer. But my intentions is that this series will definitely suit people that have already have a yoga practice and are looking for a refresh, new perspective and a kick start to the new year.
Take this class if you want to get moving, get to know your body and connect to your inner self/essence and learn how to let your authenticity lead the way this year.
Signature yoga program for healing trauma
Wednesdays 5:45pm (75 min)
Starts 14th February finishes 27th March
1 private & 7 group sessions
$390 includes extensive learning resources & recordings for home practice
Beginner friendly, open to new and existing students
Embodiment is my signature therapeutic group yoga program for healing trauma. I've been exploring the experiences of embodiment through yoga practice for over 20 years. And for the last 6 years I've been consistently sharing this program that I developed to help people (re)connect to themselves and heal the wounds of trauma. I've now shared the Embodiment program close to 30 times in Launceston, with small groups of beautiful people looking to make change and learn to live a new way. I now have the perspective of time to look back and found myself surprised that this has turned into a collective healing journey. My intention was to help the individual by sharing skills, resources and knowledge invaluable for healing trauma in an accessible and affordable small group settings. We still do this, but the skills, knowledge and wisdom continues to grow and evolve. Because I am continually learning from this program that is so alive, the content and knowledge also evolves, each time informed by the group that came before it. During the program expect to:
• Develop awareness, connections and trust in your body and self
• Learn how to recognise, tolerate & manage sensations and emotions
• Reduce, manage & relieve anxiety & other uncomfortable symptoms
• Regulate your reactions, and learn how to take effective action
• Recognise your boundaries and improve your relationships
• Create new 'feel good' rhythms in the body
• Reflect and create skills and strategies for growth and change
The program includes a private 1:1 session with Sarah before you begin, to learn more about Trauma Sensitive Yoga and decide if this is a good fit for you at this stage. After this, there are 7x group classes, with extensive resources to support your home practice including descriptive hands outs, and audio and visual recordings.
Suitable for any one new to the studio and is looking for a place to start, or people brand new to yoga. It is also design for those of us looking to (re)connect to our body after trauma and learn practical skills for self regulation. My recommendation is that everyone that comes to practice here at Ujjayi shares Embodiment with me!
Take this class if your unsure where to start. If you are looking to develop the foundations of a yoga practice or self awareness. First and for most, this is for those of us wanting to learn how to make effective and lasting change to heal in the wake of trauma.
Healing through the Chakras
Ujjayi Yoga Tasmania’s 2nd therapeutic group Yoga & Somatic Experiencing trauma healing program
Tuesdays 5:30pm (90 min)
Starts 6th February finishes 9th April (except 20/2)
9 week program
$390 includes extensive learning resources & recordings for home practice
Prerequisites required to participate, open to existing students
An extension of Embodiment, this 9 week course explores a deeper understanding of the human experience through the lens of the chakra system, and how we can apply this knowledge to heal the wounds of trauma. Combining both ancient wisdom and modern science, the Chakra system provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the whole self; the physiological and biological, emotional, mental and spiritual. And an exploration of the self through the chakras can help you to get to know where you might need to create new strategies for growth & change to release yourself from the residue & blockages of trauma. Developed and shared by Sarah, this healing journey will help you to:
• Land in the safety and stability of your roots and kinship
• Nurture your ability to create, grow, flow and change
• Stoke the fire of self-autonomy, identity and determination
• Cultivate preparedness for relationships, empathy, forgiveness and compassion
• Learn safe and true expressions of all your authentic parts
• Enhance intuition and clarity for the life you want to live
• Establish your place in environment and community
Suitable for people who have completed our Embodiment program, our Yoga to Heal Trauma full day workshop, or have practised up to 30 other classes with me here at Ujjayi; or have an extensive practice from else where; and feel comfortable with capacity for self regulation and present moment awareness of self. This program has not been design for people new to yoga.
Take this class if you have completed Embodiment and looking for the next step. Or if you have a well established yoga practice and are looking to learn more about your self and want to learn some new practical strategies for change rooted in the Chakra system.
Please note: This class will proceed with a minimum of 4 participant and a maximum of 8.
If you are interested in this program, my recommendation will be to start with Embodiment first and then take this program next time. But please do contact me for discussion if you are interested. If you haven't completed Embodiment or practised group yoga with me, participation in this group (because it is a healing trauma space that I want to create safety within) will require a private 1:1 session with me first, at the additional fee of $121, to ensure you are group ready and this program is appropriate for you at this time.
